Dear Members, Crystal Beach Tennis Club 2021 Season
Welcome to that Spring and Summer air which is once again happily surrounding us. This year, unfortunately, COVID-19 remains a major factor but we still plan to open. To date, we are in shut-down status and an opening date in early May 2021 is the best we can expect under City of Ottawa and Provincial guidelines. The club is located on City of Ottawa land and the City has been helpful to us.
The Club has prepared its Safety Plan and this will be forwarded to the City of Ottawa for approval. That has been established as a pre-requisite before the City of Ottawa will provide permission to open the courts.
We are proceeding to take membership registrations, even if it may have to be restricted somewhat and the main policies of the City of Ottawa are as follows:
- Maintain 3m distancing between persons, with a maximum of 2 players per court allowed on the courts/Club house grounds
- Spectators are not allowed with the exception of one parent/guardian for a participant under 18
- Singles play only. No doubles
- Pre-booking of Court time will be a requirement through an online system, along with passing a COVID-19 screening questionnaire in order to play
The club has always been low priced historically and this is why membership fees remain the same as last year. The expense of operations has to be met and court surface maintenance is always a concern annually because of the impact of Winter ice and Summer heat. Early Bird reduced rate in our membership fees will be in effect up to May 30, 2021. Once a person or family purchases a membership, the lock code will be provided to you for accessing the courts. However, that combination lock will not be placed on the gate until we get the go-ahead from the City to open the club for the season.
Thank you all for being members of our community club.
May you all have a great tennis season.
Ian Ashe, President, Crystal Beach Tennis Club, April 11, 2021
