President's message
2020-05-21
Dear Members,
Welcome to the tennis season of 2020! The nets are up, the courts are cleared of leaves but precautions against COVID-19 are all still applicable. As you well know, changes all around us have been made to our lifestyle and the Crystal Beach Tennis Club is no exception.
We plan to have the tennis and pickleball courts fully open by Saturday, May 23. Once a person or family purchases a membership, the lock code will be provided to you for accessing the courts. Fees remain unchanged from last year and the Early Bird rate is in effect up to Saturday, June 6, 2020. The Club’s opening must follow the directives established by the City of Ottawa and the Tennis Canada authorities, including social distancing and hygiene practices. Notice of all specific directives will be placed close to the main entrance gate to the tennis courts. Please familiarize yourself with them.
PRIMARY CONDITIONS:
Members are responsible to themselves and to others for respecting the City of Ottawa directives for tennis play.
Consider that a personal HAND SANITIZER is a permanent part of a player’s tennis gear.
On the courts, tennis or pickleball singles matches only are PREFERABLE. However, doubles play is allowed as long as players observe the 2-metres (6 feet) social distancing rule that is still applicable if players are not within the same family/household.
Tennis balls deserve CAUTION. Each server should have their own can of tennis balls, uniquely marked. Each serves their own tennis balls and collects them before the next person serves.
The Clubhouse will be closed, including access to the washroom, and this is by order of the City of Ottawa.
MEMBERSHIP:
Applications for membership, membership fees and methods of payment are outlined on the website (www.crystalbeachtennis.org). We would prefer electronic transfer to our bank account; otherwise, we will accept cheques. We want to avoid the handling of cash, if at all possible.
We must all become accustomed to the new procedures and respect that they are in place for the safety of all members. The main benefit, however, is that tennis can now be played again at the Club and our Executive Committee extends to you and your families a very big welcome and every best wish for the Crystal Beach tennis season.
